Important Announcement Regarding Training
Thu, 14 Oct 2021AUSJET / ADCVA is pleased to announce that the updated training packages have had the final approval and have now been released on training.gov.au. Below is a link to all the new Skill Set and UOC's for your information.
The main changes are as follows:
- Removal of the UOC for technical drawing and include those details within other units. This was due to the addition of pre-requisite UOCs and changes within the technical drawing UOC.
- 120 hours of experience is now mandatory prior to the completion of either the Skill Set MSMSS00018 Operate a high pressure water jetting system or the UOC MSMWJ304 Operate a high pressure water jetting system.
- Unit of Competency MSMWJ305 - Operate a drain cleaning system was modified to allow for the assessment of handgun operations within the course content.
- Unit of Competency MSMWJ202 - Use high pressure water jetting equipment, is now a pre-requisite for MSMWJ304 Operate a high-pressure water jetting system. Any new entrant to the industry must now complete MSMWJ202 Use high pressure water jetting equipment and complete 120 hours of tool time before being able to enrol in the operate a high pressure water jetting system course. This is an important step for our industry and will address those RTO's that did not follow AUSJET/ADCVA values regarding training and the issuing of competencies.
- Introduction of a new Skill Set and UOC for Operate a hydro excavation system, which allows for Class B training specific to hydro excavation with operators only needing to be competent in one element of high-pressure water jetting (a handgun).
What do the changes mean to those holding existing qualifications? At this point there is nothing that needs to be done, RTO's have up to a year to transition, revise their training and add the new packages to their scopes. Once this is completed, all new entrants will follow the Use then Operate pathway. Operators that attend refreshers may be updated to the new Skills Set and UOC's, however it will be up to each individual RTO to determine whether or not the revised competencies are issued through a refresher or whether they will require operators to sit through another course to update those competencies.
